Mansfield Christmas Lights Committee would like to extend their warmest thanks to everyone that attended the 2009 Mansfield Christmas Lights Switch-On on Thursday evening.

This year’s event was our most successful to date and despite the rain, crowds flocked to the Market Place on mass to celebrate the big Switch-On and spread some festive cheer!

7 year old Hannah Beth Carr wins Christmas light competition!

A 7 year old from Mansfield, Hannah Beth Carr, has won the Four Seasons Shopping Centre’s ‘Design-A- Light’ competition, and will now see her design made up into a 150 cm x 150 cm Christmas decoration and displayed above the front entrance to the centre.
An enthusiastic member of the shopping centre’s B:Club since it started, Hannah is over the moon that her design was chosen by the Christmas Lights Committee. She has told all her friends that they must visit the town centre and see her winning design! Hannah will be a VIP guest at the Mansfield Switch On event on 12th November, to see her light switched on, and has won a family ticket to the Panto, Aladdin, at the Palace Theatre in Mansfield, and a £20 Four Seasons Gift Card.
“I am so excited and can’t wait to see my picture made up in the lights.  It’s going to be great! I also can’t wait to go to the theatre and see Aladdin.” Says Hannah (aged 7).
Rebekah O’Neill, Centre Manager at Four Seasons Shopping Centre says:
“The standard of designs that we received was very high.  It was hard for the Christmas Lights Committee to pick a winner, but we all loved the simplicity of Hannah’s design, and thought it summed up Christmas perfectly!  We are looking forward our Christmas light switch-on on 12th November when the full effect of the design will be seen for the first time”.

Christmas is coming – and Mansfield is literally going to reach for the stars for what promises to be the best ever festive lights switch-on event on the 12th November. Three of the pop stars from S Club 7 will be making dreams come true in Mansfield Market Place as they take to the stage to sing for the crowds at the hugely popular family extravaganza, before switching on the Christmas Lights. But before the big switch-on, watch the whole stage show including:

REALITY TV star Chico gave Mansfield the X Factor on the 13 November 2008,  evening as he helped to turn on the town’s Christmas lights.

Children wanting to dazzle this Christmas should head straight to Four Seasons Shopping Centre on Saturday 19^th or Sunday 20^th September as the centre hosts the annual Design a Light competition as part of its dedicated kids club, the B:Club.

This years Mansfield Christmas Lights switch on will take place in Mansfield Town Centre on November 12th.
