The countdown to Christmas has been launched in Mansfield as the town gears up for the switch-on of the town’s Christmas Lights.
The annual big switch-on event, featuring star guests, panto stars, family entertainment and live music, will take place in Mansfield Market Place on Thursday 18th November.
Once again there will be giant TV screens to make sure the thousands of visitors don’t miss any of the action on the main stage. And the evening’s fun, which starts at 5.30pm, will be rounded off with a fireworks display.
This year there will be a snow machine creating a Christmas scene in the Market Place, walkabout characters, the 103.2 roadshow and a special appearance by Father Christmas.
The switch-on event will also mark the start of late-night shopping in Mansfield. Shops will be open in the Four Seasons and elsewhere until around 8.30pm.
Stores will then open late every Thursday from the switch-on up to Christmas, when there will also be activities for festive shoppers inside the Four Seasons Shopping Centre — see fourseasonsshopping for details.
The event is organised and supported by the Mansfield Christmas Lights Committee, which includes Mansfield District Council, Mansfield Town Centre Partnership, Four Seasons Shopping Centre, Xposure Creative Ltd, Mansfield 103.2 and Chad.
